Tooth Fairy's Secrets History
When our daughter entered the tooth-losing stage, we were very surprised (and saddened!) to learn of kids comparing how much the tooth fairy leaves them...some kids find $10 under their pillow, while others are confused or heartbroken to find only $1 or $2!
I was not going to let us fall into a trap, so we decided to leave coins from other countries instead. It was a huge hit! She has a special drawer in her jewelry box for her 'coin collection' and really treasures them.
That got me to thinking.....and to discover my true calling. I want to be the Tooth Fairy! I want kids to think beyond the monetary value of the tooth fairy's visit and feel the real magic and spirit of our loving tradition. I want kids to learn of other lifestyles and tooth loss traditions through foreign currency, fun poems and writings! I want this milestone to be memorable for kids AND their parents.I was so excited to learn of different tooth loss traditions in other countries...
In some countries the children give the tooth to a mouse. In others they leave it for a squirrel. In some countries they throw the tooth to the sun or moon. There are funny traditions! In a country in Africa, they say a chant and throw it (along with some stones) but have to make sure a lizard doesn't witness it! In another country, the child must hop on one foot while the family sings a song!
Once we created The Tooth Fairy's Secrets Gift Set, we began offering them at the many local artist stores on North Padre Island. After a few months of greatly welcomed local success, we decided it was time to offer The Tooth Fairy's Secrets to all parents and children.
